Local development

Run the frontend and local backend together, then test with your own workspace.

Start both services

From the frontend repository, install dependencies. Follow AUTH_DEPLOYMENT.md for the backend's Python, uv and local configuration prerequisites. Keep secrets in ignored local environment files.

Terminal 1 · frontend
npm install
npm run dev
Terminal 2 · backend and auth
npm run auth:dev
ServiceDefault address
Frontend & docshttp://localhost:3000
Local backend & authhttp://127.0.0.1:8000

Test an API request

Create or sign in to a local workspace, complete onboarding and use a plan with Developer API access. Create a local API key, then replace the production origin in the quickstart with http://127.0.0.1:8000. Local and production databases have separate users, keys and widget IDs.

Receive webhooks locally

Expose your local receiver through a public HTTPS tunnel, then register that HTTPS URL in your local workspace. Pingback rejects direct localhost webhook URLs. Verify signatures exactly as you would in production.
